8-year-old Learns Sign Language to Surprise Her Deaf Delivery Driver – This Is His Response

They share a close bond and Tim Joseph still has her drawing of a rainbow that he proudly displayed on his van.

An 8-year-old learned sign language and surprised her delivery driver by signing “have a good day” to him. Tim Joseph, who is deaf, often makes deliveries to Tallulah’s home and also shares a warm relationship with the 8-year-old but he was shocked when he saw her signing to him. Tallulah’s mother, Amy Roberts, said her daughter got friendly with the delivery driver during the lockdown.

“We see him one or two times a week,” said Roberts, reported Global News. “Start of lockdown, Tallulah drew him a #thankyou rainbow. He still has it proudly on show in his van. They have built up quite a friendship over these last few weeks,” she added.

The video of the 8-year-old signing to the Hermes Parcel courier service worker, Tim Joseph, at her home in Greater Manchester went viral after Amy Roberts uploaded the video to Twitter during the lockdown last year. In the video, Tallulah can be seen signing “have a good day” to their parcel delivery man. Joseph looks on adorably as the 8-year-old signs to him. He said it made his day. “Tallulah realized I was deaf and then one day she surprised me when she signed to me, ‘Have a good day,’” Joseph told BBC Radio Manchester. “I think she learned sign language at school.”

Joseph then proceeded to teach the girl a few other handy phrases she could use. “I was very happy and then I showed Tallulah how to sign, ‘Good morning, have a good day,’ and then she signed it perfectly and it made my day,” he said. He was also quite shocked by the number of people who had viewed and liked the video uploaded by Emma. The video has been retweeted nearly 10,000 times and liked by more than 55,000 people. Joseph also said he was hopeful more people would learn sign language. “I hope more people learn to sign and we bring more people together,” said Joseph.

The tweet was also flooded with positive comments. Another person from their neighborhood heaped praise on Tallulah and Joseph. “You are a very special and beautiful little girl Tallulah. He is the best delivery driver we have around here! He’s always so pleased/happy when we sign hello and thank you to him,” tweeted Carrie Hopwood. Another tweeted Roberts about Joseph, “He’s so lovely, isn’t he.” She responded, “Tallulah’s always asking me, ‘Have you bought anything, mom? Is my friend coming today?’” In a separate tweet, Roberts tweeted, “In a world where you can be anything, be kind. Another person from the neighborhood also had kind words to share about Joseph, writing, “He comes to us too and Alfie also uses sign with him. His face lights up when we make the effort to sign to him.
