The search for the bodies of those killed in the DC plane crash continues
after a tragic collision on January 29 between an Army helicopter and an
American Airlines plane. The crash, which occurred over the Potomac River, resulted in the death of 67 people.
As of now, 55 bodies have been recovered, though difficult, cold conditions
make the operation challenging. Ice in the river has slowed recovery efforts,
and a Metropolitan Police diver required treatment for hypothermia but has since recovered.
Emergency responders have described the scene as emotionally taxing, with one
firefighter noting the horrors seen underwater, despite the water being clear.
