Close friend reveals reason Gene Hackman couldn’t ‘call for help’

A close friend of Gene Hackman and Betsy Arakawa has revealed the tragic reason why Hackman couldn’t call for help after his

wife’s death. The couple’s decomposing bodies were found at their home in Santa Fe, New Mexico, leading to speculation about

causes such as carbon monoxide poisoning or foul play. Initial reports ruled out foul play, but further investigations were

launched.

It was later confirmed that both died of natural causes. Arakawa passed away from Hantavirus Pulmonary Syndrome,

contracted from rodent droppings. Hackman, suffering from advanced Alzheimer’s, was left alone and disoriented after her

death. Investigators believe he didn’t even realize she had died.

A close friend revealed that Hackman didn’t own a phone and was unable to call for help. His Alzheimer’s contributed to his

deteriorating state, and his death was marked by profound sadness. Their passing highlights the challenges of aging and illness.
