President Donald Trump found himself in an unexpected moment while speaking to reporters at Joint Base Andrews when a microphone suddenly struck him in the face.
The incident unfolded as Trump was addressing questions about efforts to bring hostages home from Gaza. As he leaned in to hear a reporter more clearly, a microphone with a fuzzy windscreen—commonly called a “dead cat” for its ability to block out background noise—accidentally smacked him in the cheek and lip.

For a brief second, the room fell silent. Reporters hesitated, unsure of how Trump would react. But in classic Trump fashion, he turned the mishap into a moment of humor.
“She just made television tonight,” Trump joked, making direct eye contact with the reporter. “She just became a big story tonight, right? Did you see that?”
The microphone operator, whose identity and media affiliation remain unclear, quickly apologized for the accident.
