Hollywood legend Gene Hackman, 95, and his wife, Betsy Arakawa, 65, were found dead in their New Mexico home under tragic circumstances.
Arakawa passed away on February 11 from hantavirus, a rare and deadly virus linked to rodent droppings. Hackman, who suffered from advanced
Alzheimer’s and did not own a cellphone, likely did not realize what had happened and was unable to call for help. He is believed to have survived for
about a week before dying from heart disease on February 18. Their bodies were discovered on February 26 in separate rooms of their Santa Fe estate,
Authorities confirmed that while their home showed no signs of rodents, some outbuildings on the property had evidence of infestation. Hackman was
found near the kitchen, possibly after a fall, with his cane and sunglasses nearby. Adding to the tragedy, their 12-year-old dog, Zinna, also died, likely
because Hackman was unaware it had been crated after a medical procedure,
