Identify Your Fat Distribution Type and Learn How to Address It

Understanding the Types of Obesity — And How to Tackle Each One

Obesity is a complex, multifaceted condition. A study of 4,000 obese adults identified six subtypes, each requiring a different treatment approach:

Healthy Young Women – Obese but with few health issues.

Heavy Drinkers – Similar but with higher alcohol intake.

Middle-Aged with Mental Health Issues – Often women facing anxiety or depression.

Older, Wealthy, and Healthy – May have high blood pressure or drink more.

Older with Physical Illnesses – Conditions like arthritis, but good mental health.

Poor Overall Health – Struggle with multiple diseases and financial stress.

This highlights the need for personalized care, not generic diets.

Fat Distribution Matters
Android (apple-shaped): Fat around the abdomen (more common in men) = higher health risk.

Gynoid (pear-shaped): Fat around hips/thighs (more common in women).
