Then, it dawned on him. Renee had always adored sunflowers.
Why not surprise her with a vast field of these radiant blooms?
“I put a lot of thought into it and she always liked sunflowers,” Lee told KAKE News.

“And I thought this is the year to plant sunflowers so I planted her 80 acres of sunflowers.”
With the assistance of their son, Lee embarked on this secret mission in May.
By the time their anniversary approached on August 10th, approximately 1.2 million sunflowers stood tall, swaying in the breeze, all dedicated to Renee.
Renee’s reaction? Pure joy.
“It made me feel very special,” she gushed. “It couldn’t have been a more perfect anniversary gift than a field of sunflowers.”
But the sunflower spectacle didn’t just captivate Renee.
The breathtaking sight attracted admirers from all over Kansas, turning their farm into an unexpected tourist spot.
As for whether Lee would consider repeating this grand gesture? He chuckled, “Oh it’s been fun, but I think one time is enough for us. It’s somebody else’s turn next year.”
