Teacher Asks Students To Design Their Own Hats — Then Surprises Them With The Real Thing!

Teachers have the ability to leave a lasting impact on the kiddos in their classes. Mrs. White, who has a class of second-graders, seems to understand this well. That’s why, as the holidays quickly approached, this thoughtful teacher came up with a creative way to surprise her students. It all started with what seemed like an ordinary assignment.

Their instructions were simple: Color a picture of a hat. The hat contains five sections and could only include solid colors (though some of them did end up adding a mixture of colors). According to Mrs. White, these drawings were to be placed on a bulletin board.

In reality, though, Mrs. White had much bigger plans for these hats. With her mom’s help, the hats these students designed were brought to life. This meant that each and every student would get to take home a hat they designed — and just in time for the start of winter.

“So, do y’all remember when I asked y’all to color a picture of a hat?” this clever teacher says in a video capturing the reveal. “And I said it was going to be for a bulletin board? Well, Mrs. White may have fibbed a little bit, but I took all of your papers, and I gave them to my mom. And my mom turned your drawings into actual hats.”

Mrs. White sits at her desk. With one hand she holds up a drawing a kid has colored in of a hat. In the other hand is a real-life version of the hat. The colors are red, orange, yellow, green, and purple.

Sounds of gasps and excited screams fill the room instantly. One kid even screams, “No way!”

These happy kids aren’t the only ones who can’t get over Mrs. White and her mom’s generosity — thousands have left comments sharing how touched they are by the teacher’s surprise for her students.

“As a mom, I would be so emotional about this if my kids came home with that,” one person says. “So personable and sweet.”

“Those kids are going to be talking about this their entire life,” another person shares.
