The relationship between Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle was seen as one of great importance for the future of the monarchy, but it deteriorated over time. In the meantime, Queen Camilla did her best to help Meghan Markle adjust to royal life. Sadly, everything changed when the Duchess broke a promise to her.<\/p>\n
Today, Camilla and Meghan are undoubtedly not close to being somewhere near friends. Now, the queen appears to have gotten her \u2018perfect revenge\u2019 on Harry\u2019s wife.<\/p>\n
Meghan Markle\u2019s entrance into the royal family was seen as very positive. The royal family not only got a new family member but would surely benefit from the former Suits star\u2019s American background.<\/p>\n
The Duchess was popular among the public, but things quickly turned ugly when Prince Harry and Meghan Markle left the family.<\/p>\n
When she first entered royal life, it looked like Meghan and the rest of the family got along great. That included her relationship with Queen Elizabeth II and Kate Middleton, but Camilla was another family member she came very close with.<\/p>\n
Meghan Markle and Queen Camilla had one major thing in common. Both had married into the royal family, instantly creating a strong bond. Reports suggested that because of this, they agreed to show respect to each other, including in the workplace.<\/p>\n
Camilla did her best to help Meghan Markle adjust to royal life. Shortly before her wedding to Harry, the former Parker-Bowles invited her to a private lunch, sharing how she was treated by the press after Princess Diana\u2019s death, as well as how he coped with the pressure.<\/p>\n
Moreover, Camilla told Meghan that she should focus on the positive sides of her role within the royal family and \u201cride out the storm if negative press would occur,\u201d according to the Daily Mail<\/p>\n
Charles was said to have offered similar advice to Harry.<\/p>\n

\nHowever, Meghan appeared to feel differently. In an ITV documentary, she claimed that people didn\u2019t care about her well-being, saying, \u201cNot many people have asked if I\u2019m OK.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cMeg was really grateful to Camilla who was very supportive and invited her out for private lunches, particularly around the time of her marriage,\u201d a friend of Meghan Markle\u2019s told the Daily Mail. \u201cShe listened to her and understood that it\u2019s really difficult joining the Royal Family from an otherwise \u2018normal\u2019 life.\u201d<\/p>\n
The friend added, \u201cMuch like Meghan, Camilla had experienced a lot of negative press and hostility from courtiers due to her relationship with Charles when he was still married to Diana\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cShe was very sensitive to Meghan and provided her with support, advising her to ride out the storm and that it would all pass \u2013 but ultimately Meghan didn\u2019t listen\u201d<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, a palace aid told the British newspaper that Camilla understood what it was like coming from a \u201cnormal life,\u201d and suddenly found themselves in the world of the royal family.<\/p>\n
\u201cAs a consequence, she tries very hard to make people welcome and help them find their feet, and has done so for many years;\u201d the palace source said.<\/p>\n
\u201cHer consciously offering to mentor and guide is something that she really does try and do. That applies to many people, not just the Duchess of Cambridge and the Duchess of Sussex.\u201d<\/p>\n
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry joined Camilla for their first official engagement in November 2019. It was just weeks after the Sussexes had begun planning their royal exit, and, as per Vanity Fair, Camilla had shown great support for the couple at the time.<\/p>\n

She helped advise Meghan as Charles helped Harry. But in the end, Meghan did something that left Camilla very upset.<\/p>\n
In 2020, Camilla was scheduled to attend the 10th Anniversary of the Women of the World festival. There, she was to deliver a speech, and it was reported that Meghan promised not to stand in the spotlight.<\/p>\n
