Although we live in modern times, hundreds of years removed from an age where the majority of folks believed the world was run by magic, there\u2019s still a small part of us that connects us to our ancestor\u2019s superstitious beliefs. Whenever strange occurrences happen around us, our mind instantly visits that dark part of our brain that\u2019s willing to lend credence to the fantastic. And there\u2019s no area in which our minds do this more than the concept of death. Humankind\u2019s final great mystery still inspires fear and the willingness to believe in even the most logical people. Take the father in this joke, for example. He is a rational man who began to think that his daughter had special powers.<\/p>\n
A father put his 3-year-old daughter to bed, told her a story and listened to her prayers which ended by saying, \u201cGod bless Mommy, God bless Daddy, God bless Grandma and goodbye Grandpa.\u201d<\/p>\n
The father asked, \u2018Why did you say good-bye Grandpa?\u2019<\/p>\n
The little girl said, \u201cI don\u2019t know daddy, it just seemed like the thing to do.\u201d The next day grandpa died. The father thought it was a strange coincidence.<\/p>\n
A few months later the father put the girl to bed and listened to her prayers, \u201cGod bless Mommy, God Bless Daddy and goodbye Grandma.\u201d The next day the grandmother died.<\/p>\n
\u201cHoly crap\u201d thought the father, \u201cthis kid is in contact with the other side.\u201d<\/p>\n
Several weeks later when the girl was going to bed the dad heard her say, \u201cGod bless Mommy and goodbye Daddy.\u201d<\/p>\n
He practically went into shock. He couldn\u2019t sleep all night and got up at the crack of dawn to go to his office. He was nervous as a cat all day, had lunch and watched the clock. He figured if he could get by until midnight he would be okay. He felt safe in the office, so instead of going home at the end of the day he stayed there, drinking coffee, looking at his watch and jumping at every sound. Finally midnight arrived; he breathed a sigh of relief and went home.<\/p>\n
When he got home his wife said, \u201cI\u2019ve never seen you work so late. What\u2019s the matter?\u201d He said, \u201cI don\u2019t want to talk about it, I just had the worst day of my life.\u201d She said, \u201cYou think you had a bad day?
