Prom night is supposed to be a magical evening full of fun and festivities. But let\u2019s face it, it can be expensive too.<\/p>\n

When Addi Rust decided to go to the high school prom with her best friend Parker Smith, she had no clue it\u2019d cost a pretty penny.<\/p>\n

But fortunately for her, her creative date got to work to create a specialized, dream dress!<\/p>\n

Parker decided to do this after realizing how expensive prom dresses are.<\/p>\n

He became motivated to create something unique for his date after they both realized the high cost of prom dresses.<\/p>\n

USA Today reported that the average cost of going to prom is $600.
\nThat is quite expensive and if you don\u2019t want to spend that kind of money, making a dress at home is a great backup option.<\/p>\n

Initially, Addi was only joking about Parker making her the dress.
\nBut after some careful thought, Parker was up to the task. He had never sewn anything before.<\/p>\n

He didn\u2019t have any experience with sewing before making this dress.<\/p>\n

Parker was determined to make his date her dream dress though.
\nWith no prior sewing experience, he began by sketching an idea based on what his date wanted, and then went to his grandma to get some sewing lessons.<\/p>\n

He worked on the dress for months and didn\u2019t stop adding finishing touches until the night before prom.<\/p>\n

He tells Fox59:<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m such a perfectionist that I was up adding more stones to the dress even the night before prom.\u201d<\/p>\n

After wowing his date with the dress he made for her, more requests for dresses came.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s not surprising \u2013 she looked like a real fairytale princess!<\/p>\n

Addi says that when Parker showed her the final product, she teared up.
\nThe dress meant so much to her and it was truly her dream gown.<\/p>\n

But the \u201cdreams coming true\u201d didn\u2019t stop there.<\/p>\n

When his story hit the news, other clients came calling.
\nSoon, local theater companies started asking him to make costumes for their productions, and Parker was more than happy to take on the challenge.<\/p>\n

For one production, he designed Cinderella\u2019s costume that has to turn from a peasant dress into a beautiful ball gown.<\/p>\n

Despite all his success, Parker is still surprised by the reception.<\/p>\n

He is shocked that something so special could have happened to him.
\nAdditionally, this chance to create has had significance for him personally. He tells FOX59:<\/p>\n

\u201cExtremely sentimental to me. Especially when you see everything all together, and there\u2019s just no other feeling. It\u2019s just crazy to think that something like that can come from, like, a simple kid\u2026It only enriched the kid I know myself to be already.\u201d<\/p>\n

This teen is now eyeing a career in design.<\/p>\n
