<\/p>\nThe usually mild-mannered Tom Selleck couldn\u2019t hide his ann\u2019oyance when he got into a disagreement with Rosie O\u2019Donnell over g\u2026. control. Selleck claimed there is a much bigger issue facing our nation than what Rosie seemed co\u2019ncerned about.<\/p>\n
Rosie O\u2019Donnell\u2019s support for stricter g\u2026 laws started decades ago, dating back to when she hosted her first talk show. Back then, Rosie was known as \u201cthe qu\u2019een of nice\u201d for being \u201cguest friendly.\u201d Many say that all ended when she challenged Tom Selleck on g\u2026. control in America in what turned out to be a very contentious interview in 1999 which is still talked about decades later.<\/p>\n

Knowing Tom Selleck was a member of the National Rifle Association, O\u2019Donnell got passionate with the Blue Bloods star, who joined the NRA when he was 8-years-old. The talk show queen related being upset over a h\u2026. school sho\u2019oting, and her solution was to ensure politicians legislate stricter g\u2026. control. However, Selleck didn\u2019t agree.<\/p>\n
\u201cAll I can tell you is rushing to pass legislation in times of national crisis or morning isn\u2019t proper,\u201d Selleck said. \u201cAnd more importantly, nothing in any of that legislation would have done anything to stop that awful t\u2026..\u201d<\/p>\n
O\u2019Donnell gave Selleck the opportunity to explain what he believes is the problem in America, and to him, it was not the availability of g\u2026.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhat I\u2019ve seen, in the work I\u2019ve done with kids, is the troubling direction in our culture,\u201d Selleck declared. \u201cLook nobody argues anymore if they\u2019re conservative or liberal, whether our society is going in the wrong direction\u2026whether it be TV or movies, something\u2019s happened.\u201d<\/p>\n
Selleck then went on to further explain his viewpoint and reason for disagreement, elaborating on how our country has drastically changed over the decades.<\/p>\n

\u201cSomething\u2019s happened in this country,\u201d Selleck said. \u201cForty years ago, g\u2026 were much more accessible. Forty years ago a kid could walk into a pawn shop or a hardware store and buy a high capacity magazine we\u2019apon that could k\u2019ill a lot of people, but they didn\u2019t do it.\u201d<\/p>\n
The veteran actor wasn\u2019t finished debating his point, claiming that \u201c30 or 40 years ago\u201d young males intent on suicide would go and \u201cblow their brains out,\u201d but with the direction our culture had taken over the previous few decades, something had changed these suicidal youth, according to Selleck.<\/p>\n
\u201cIn today\u2019s world, someone who is suicidal sits at home nurses their rage, and develops a g\u2019rievance, but takes 20 people with them,\u201d Selleck argued. \u201cSomething happened in our culture.\u201d<\/p>\n
That\u2019s when O\u2019Donnell b\u2019ombarded Selleck with the d\u2019angers surrounding assault w\u2026.. In response, the usually mild-mannered actor got a little annoyed.<\/p>\n
\u201cLook, Rosie, it\u2019s an act of moral vanity to assume that someone who disagrees with your political agenda to solve our problems cares any less,\u201d Selleck declared.<\/p>\n
Rosie O\u2019Donnell then reiterated that she wants a \u201ccompromise\u201d on g\u2026 control, and that\u2019s when Tom Selleck doubled down on his position.<\/p>\n
\u201cLook, we all hang out with people we agree with. You have a very one-sided view\u2026\u201d Selleck said as O\u2019Donnell interrupted. \u201cThis is a nice one-sided conversation,\u201d Selleck exclaimed. \u201cRemember how civil you said you were going to be? When are you going to get to television and v\u2026.?\u201d<\/p>\n

Selleck tried one more time to clarify his belief that our society is negatively in;fluenced by the culture in Hollywood.<\/p>\n
\u201cAre we a responsible enough society, in terms of television, in terms of movies, in terms of g\u2026. and everything else, to be this free?\u201d Selleck asked. \u201cThe answer is probably not, but I\u2019m gonna go down with the Bill of Rights. You can ask me questions about anything, but it\u2019s just stupid political rhetoric.\u201d<\/p>\n
This caused Rosie O\u2019Donnell to go on the offensive again, saying there\u2019s no reason for anyone to have assault w\u2026.., but Tom Selleck had one question for her.<\/p>\n
\u201cDo you really think the Second Amendment is in the Constitution to guarantee hunting and target shooting?\u201d Selleck declared.<\/p>\n
O\u2019Donnell answered by saying the Second Amendment is \u201cso we can have muskets when the British people come over in 1800 \u2013 I don\u2019t think it\u2019s in the Constitution to have assault w\u2026.,\u201d she claimed, adding, \u201cI feel attacked.\u201d Selleck again disagreed on all accounts, telling her that he thought she was being \u201cstupid.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cI haven\u2019t attacked you,\u201d Selleck retorted. \u201cI disagreed with you. I haven\u2019t mentioned assault w\u2026. once. I didn\u2019t come on your show to have a debate. I came on your show to plug a movie \u2013 that\u2019s what I\u2019m doing here \u2026 I think you\u2019re being stupid.\u201d<\/p>\n
