The airline announced plans to allow pets in the cabins on flights, a service that could start as early as next year. If successful, Virgin Airlines will become the first airline in Australia to offer this service. This announcement came in a press release titled \u2018Cats out the Bag\u2019, where the airline revealed its goal to be the first in the country to offer pet-friendly flights.<\/p>\n
The decision came after Virgin Airlines reviewed a 2021 survey, which found that 85% of respondents supported the idea of pets being allowed in the cabin. In addition, 57% of those surveyed said they would fly more frequently if they could bring their pets along. The airline clarified that the new service would not affect the policy for assistance animals, which will continue to fly at no additional cost. Only small dogs and cats that can fit in a carrier under the seat in front of the passenger will be allowed on board. Passengers will be required to use an approved carrier, and pets will not be allowed to roam freely during the flight. A fee will apply for those flying with pets, although the exact cost has not been disclosed.<\/p>\n

Virgin Airlines reassured passengers that the airline is working on a plan to minimize any impact on those who are allergic to pets.
