Born in Jasper, Alabama, Sandy\u2019s musical career began in Memphis,<\/p>\n
where she gained fame as a session singer. Her hit \u201cBorn a Woman\u201d<\/p>\n
reached No. 12 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1966, earning her a Grammy<\/p>\n
nomination.Sandy\u2019s hits like \u201cSingle Girl\u201d and \u201cWhat a Woman in Love Won\u2019t Do\u201d<\/p>\n
blended pop and country. She also backed stars like Elvis Presley<\/p>\n
