<\/p>\nA \u201cHAUNTED\u201d Louisiana mansion compared to the Amityville Horror house is being given away for free to anybody brave enough to live in it.<\/p>\n
But its listing has prompted people to share spooky memories of the property, including one ex-resident who creepily claims her great-granny\u2019s spirit still stirs the pot in the kitchen.<\/p>\n

The four-bedroom, three bathroom house in Youngsville was built in the 1930s.<\/p>\n
But its spine-chilling reputation is seemingly throwing a spanner in its current owners\u2019 attempt to get rid of it, despite trying to give it away.<\/p>\n
McLain Investments\u2019 co-owner Sylvia McLain shared three snaps of the house on Facebook to convince a suitor to move it and restore it so they could build a new property on the land.<\/p>\n
However, numerous ex-residents and visitors replied, revealing their spooky experiences in the house.<\/p>\n

Former resident Dawn Vallot DeClout claims the ghoul that occupies the house is her own great grandmother Adele, a 4ft 9in woman who lived to about 90 and favored being in the kitchen.<\/p>\n
Dawn\u2019s family owned the 160-acre plot the house was built on from 1860 for more than 100 years, and she lived there for a year in 1981.<\/p>\n
She said: \u201cThere is a spirit and her name is Adele\u2026 my great grandmother.\u201d<\/p>\n
Her grandparents built and owned the house by the side of the family\u2019s plantation and her great-grandmother lived there most of her life until she died in the front room in 1967.<\/p>\n
Dawn, whose family moved out in the 1980s, said: \u201cWe believe [Adele] is the ghost, but she\u2019s not menacing at all.<\/p>\n
\u201cShe was always digging in the pots, like when you have something on the stove and someone goes and looks in the pot and stirs it around.<\/p>\n

\u201cShe was well-known for that, and so when we lived there, we used to hear her all the time jangling the pots when we had something on the stove.<\/p>\n
\u201cYou could hear somebody picking up the lid but there was nobody in the kitchen.\u201d<\/p>\n

Estate agent Sylvia went to the same school as Dawn and grew up around six miles from the house.<\/p>\n
Sylvia, 63, said: \u201cI don\u2019t know if it\u2019s haunted, but I do know about all the rumors surrounding the house.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am aware there\u2019s a lot of talk about the house being haunted.<\/p>\n
\u201cDawn and her brother always tell the story that their great-grandmother would stir the pot while they were playing cards in the living room.<\/p>\n
\u201cAnd then the girl that lived in it who was the last tenant \u2013 everybody called her \u2018gypsy\u2019 because she believed in the spirits and all that stuff.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe previous tenant even told us she had somebody come in and check for spirits.\u201d<\/p>\n
Locals comparing the house to the \u2018Amityville Horror house\u2019 isn\u2019t making it easy for Sylvia to off-load the home.<\/p>\n
Multiple potential new owners appeared to suggest it to their pals, only for them to decline and point out that it was \u2018haunted\u2019.<\/p>\n
Gary Alleman said on social media: \u201cYes it is [haunted]. I experienced three things there that could not be explained and my friend that lived there had more than that.\u201d<\/p>\n

Another commented: \u201cI knew someone who rented it. I\u2019ve been in it.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt is a lot less \u2018antique\u2019 than you\u2019d expect. More like someone updated it in the \u201960s.<\/p>\n
\u201cDid have a lot of weird noises in the ceilings and walls though!\u201d<\/p>\n
