Few people will take the time to help out another person, especially if you\u2019re busy doing ten things at once and you need to do it fast.
\nAt Waffle House in La Marque, Texas, an employee named Evoni Williams was doing her job.<\/p>\n

It was very busy at the diner and she was attending to a lot of customers when she noticed a particular man, sitting at the counter.<\/p>\n

\nThis man is Adrian Charpentier.
\nHe is a Waffle House regular and, on this particular day, Adrian had trouble cutting his food. He said he had no coordination and strength in his hands.<\/p>\n

Without hesitation, Evoni leaned over, grabbed his fork, and cut up his ham.<\/p>\n

A woman named Laura Wolf was sitting in a booth behind Adrian and saw the entire exchange.
\n\u201cIt touched me,\u201d Laura said. \u201cBecause she\u2019s so young. I have four kids who would\u2019ve done the same thing, but you just don\u2019t always see something like this.\u201d<\/p>\n

She took a photo of Adrian and Evoni and posted it on her Facebook wall.
\nLaura said she wished more people like us could be like Evoni, who was ready to offer a helping hand to those who needed it.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was so busy in here, and she actually took the time to stop and hear what he had to say instead of walking past him. That just meant something to me,\u201d Laura mentioned.<\/p>\n

Evoni had no idea Laura took the photo and found out about it through her friends.
\nHer friends saw Laura\u2019s post and tagged Evoni. The post blew up and was shared more than 73,000 times. Because it went viral, it reached the office of Mayor Bobby Hocking.<\/p>\n

Mayor Hocking felt compelled to do something for Evoni.<\/p>\n

The first thing he did was to declare March 8 as Evoni William\u2019s Day. Plus, Texas Southern University President Austin A. Lane reached out to give Evoni a $16,000 scholarship to attend their university.<\/p>\n

Evoni had started working at The Waffle House so she could save for college.
\nIt\u2019s safe to say that she has definitely earned her money to study. Evoni earned it for an act that she would do for anyone who needed help.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat\u2019s just me,\u201d Evoni explained. \u201cIt came from the heart. I would do it any other time, not just this time.\u201d<\/p>\n

When Mayor Hocking presented Evoni with Evoni Williams\u2019 day declaration and the scholarship check, Evoni just broke down in tears.<\/p>\n

She could not believe this was happening to her. Mayor Hocking believes she deserved it.
\n\u201cIt\u2019s always refreshing in this day and age to see the younger generation helping the older generation,\u201d Mayor Hocking shared. \u201cBecause our young generation is not always cast in the best light. It never gets old seeing young people help.\u201d<\/p>\n
