<\/p>\nThere has been a lot of commotion surrounding the new tariffs that were announced by Donald Trump. Now that he has doubled up on it, a Canadian Premier says that they are going to do something about it.<\/p>\n
Doug Ford, the Canadian Premier is not happy about Donald Trump\u2019s announcement over the new tariffs. He said that if he goes through with it, he will shut off power to 1,500,000 customers in the United States.<\/p>\n

Donald Trump signed an order to impose tariffs on China, Mexico, and Canada shortly after he entered the White House for his second term. He is doing so to hold them accountable for the illegal drugs that are coming into the United States.<\/p>\n
In Canada and Mexico, there is a 25% tariff on goods imposed and on goods coming from China, there is a 10% tariff. Trump also said that Canada could avoid the tariffs by becoming the \u2018cherished 51st state\u2019 of the United States.<\/p>\n
Justin Trudeau released a statement on March 3 in regards to the terrace. He said: \u201cToday, after a 30-day pause, the United States administration has decided to proceed with imposing 25 percent tariffs on Canadian exports and 10 per cent tariffs on Canadian energy. Let me be unequivocally clear \u2013 there is no justification for these actions.\u201d<\/p>\n
The White House also released an announcement saying that these are Trump: \u201ctaking bold action to hold Mexico, Canada, and China accountable to their promises of halting illegal immigration and stopping poisonous fentanyl and other drugs from flowing into our country\u2019.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere is growing production of fentanyl in Canada, and enough fentanyl was seized at the northern border last fiscal year to kill 9.8 million Americans.<\/p>\n

\u201cAdditionally, illegal border crossings from Canada reached historic new highs every year for the last four fiscal years.\u201d<\/p>\n
Ontario Premier Doug Ford released a statement during a news conference. He said: \u201cIf they want to try to annihilate Ontario, I will do anything, including cutting off their energy \u2014 with a smile on my face.<\/p>\n
\u201cThey need to feel the pain. They want to come at us hard? We\u2019ve got to go back twice as hard.\u201d<\/p>\n
Ford also said: \u201cWe [Ontario] keep the lights on in 1.5 million homes and [in] manufacturing in New York, in Michigan, and in Minnesota.<\/p>\n
\u201cIf he wants to destroy our economy and our families, I will shut down the electricity going into the US.\u201d<\/p>\n
He also said something similar when speaking at a mining convention in downtown Toronto on Friday. He said: \u201cIf they want to try to annihilate Ontario, I will do everything \u2014 including cut off their energy with a smile on my face.<\/p>\n
\u201cThey rely on our energy, they need to feel the pain. They want to come at us hard, we\u2019re going to come back twice as hard.\u201d<\/p>\n
He added: \u201cThat\u2019s exactly what we\u2019re going to do.<\/p>\n
