These include a tense White House meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, renaming the Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf of America, and appointing Elon Musk as head of the Department of Government Efficiency.<\/p>\n<p>Trump also claimed his victory over Democratic candidate Kamala Harris was a \u201cmandate,\u201d expressed willingness to release a \u201csuspicious\u201d report on assassination attempts against him, and signed an executive order creating a contentious Bitcoin reserve.<\/p>\n<p>Interestingly, of his first 48 days back in office, Trump has spent 13 of them on the golf course.<\/p>\n<p>According to an\u00a0<em>Independent<\/em>\u00a0report, this golfing habit is costing taxpayers a staggering amount.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_203130\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-203130\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-203130\" src=\"https:\/\/dailyspire.info\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/Screenshot_2-6.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1003\" height=\"563\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-203130\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">President Donald Trump has already completed 13 rounds of golf since returning to office (Mike Stobe\/Getty Images)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>A longtime golf enthusiast, Trump owns 12 golf properties in the U.S., as well as courses in Scotland, Ireland, and the UAE. As per\u00a0<em>HuffPost<\/em>, he has played ten rounds at Trump International West Palm Beach and three at Trump Doral since returning to Washington, D.C.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Trump Doral, located near Miami International Airport, spans 800 acres, while Trump International West Palm Beach boasts a 27-hole course minutes from the Atlantic Ocean.<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>His golf outings during his first term often drew scrutiny, with\u00a0<em>The Washington Post<\/em>\u00a0estimating in 2019 that his trips to Florida for the sport would cost taxpayers $64 million. By October 2020, former Labor Secretary Robert Reich calculated that the actual figure had reached a staggering $141 million.<\/p>\n<p>In 2018, a single weekend in Scotland cost taxpayers over $1 million, according to a report from the Committee on Oversight and Accountability Democrats.<\/p>\n<p>So, how have Trump\u2019s 13 rounds of golf this year affected U.S. taxpayers?<\/p>\n<p>Citing a 2019 Government Accountability Office report,\u00a0<em>HuffPost<\/em>\u00a0estimates that his golf-related expenses have likely exceeded $18 million.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_203131\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-203131\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-203131\" src=\"https:\/\/dailyspire.info\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/Screenshot_3-5.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1015\" height=\"565\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-203131\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Trump\u2019s expeditions to Florida have reportedly cost taxpayers more than $18 million (TIMOTHY A. CLARY\/AFP via Getty Images)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>These costs include Air Force One travel to Florida, security personnel, and\u00a0law enforcement\u00a0patrols with bomb-sniffing dogs.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Trump\u2019s golf empire has also faced\u00a0controversy. On Saturday, March 8, police in Scotland launched an\u00a0investigation\u00a0after vandals targeted Trump\u2019s Turnberry resort.<\/p>\n<p>According to the\u00a0<em>BBC<\/em>, a pro-Palestinian group defaced a building with red paint and spray-painted \u201cGaza is not for sale\u201d on one of the greens.<\/p>\n<p>A spokesperson for Trump Turnberry condemned the act as \u201cchildish and criminal,\u201d calling the resort a \u201cnational treasure\u201d and a \u201cworld-leading symbol of luxury and excellence in golf.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>President Donald Trump has reportedly spent a significant amount of taxpayer money on enhancing his sporting skills since returning to office earlier this year.
