A private event in San Diego featured a performance by the famous person and her band<\/p>\n
on March 16, 1991. At Brown Field Municipal Airport, two aircraft were prepared to fly<\/p>\n
the band members to Fort Wayne, Indiana. , for the scheduled performance that follows.<\/p>\n
The band members and tour manager took off, leaving McEntire, her manager<\/p>\n
Narvel Blackstock at the time, and her stylist Sandi Spika in San Diego for the evening.<\/p>\n
In a depressing 2012 interview with Oprah Winfrey, McEntire recalled what happened next.<\/p>\n
Only ten miles east of the airport, the first jet to depart crashed,<\/p>\n
