When 87-year-old Chris Harvey was hospitalized after a heart scare, he called his daughter Angelina in Miami, hoping she could visit him in Austin.<\/p>\n

Unable to take time off work, she sent her son Peter and his wife, Hannah, to look after him and check on his house.<\/p>\n

But when Chris returned home, he was stunned. His furniture was on the lawn, his house was nearly empty,<\/p>\n

and plastic sheets suggested renovations. Peter claimed they were remodeling to make Chris more comfortable\u2014a surprise to welcome him home.<\/p>\n

Chris, touched by their apparent kindness, thanked them. But later, while returning from the pharmacy, he overheard<\/p>\n

Peter and Hannah arguing. Hannah was furious that Chris wasn\u2019t dying as they\u2019d assumed. They\u2019d started renovating,<\/p>\n

the house believing it would soon be theirs. Peter insisted it was still a good \u201cinvestment,\u201d but Hannah was done. Heartbroken,<\/p>\n

Chris decided to teach them a lesson. At a housewarming party Peter and Hannah hosted\u2014thinking the home was theirs\u2014Chris<\/p>\n

gave a toast, revealing he wasn\u2019t going anywhere. He exposed their true motives,<\/p>\n

to the guests and declared the house would go to charity after his death. He kicked everyone out and later told Angelina<\/p>\n

the full story. Though she was ashamed of her son, she understood her father\u2019s decision. Chris lived another 11 years,<\/p>\n
