One of the most controversial topics when it comes to parenting style is whether spanking is an acceptable form of discipline or not.<\/p>\n
Most people will tell you that spanking a tiny human being is abuse, while others say that you\u2019re just teaching them a lesson.<\/p>\n
Kelly Clarkson shared her thoughts.
\nKelly was asked in her interview about her parenting style.<\/p>\n
Since she\u2019s now a mother of two beautiful kids, River Rose and Remy, and a stepmother for two older kids, she explained that for her, spanking is an effective disciplinary action.<\/p>\n
According to the talented host and singer, she spanks her kids.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m not above a spanking, which people aren\u2019t necessarily into,\u201d she admitted in her interview. \u201cAnd I don\u2019t mean like hitting her hard. I just meant a spanking.\u201d<\/p>\n
She was being honest.
\nShe didn\u2019t feel right to deny this because, for her, this type of parenting style works.<\/p>\n
Kelly also clarified that she does not hurt her kids. Spanking is just spanking, and she wanted everyone else to know that her kids are not being hurt.<\/p>\n
Originally from Fort Worth, Texas, Kelly said that spanking in her hometown is a common practice.<\/p>\n
Kelly herself grew up with it.
\nShe even shared that when she was a kid, she also received spankings.<\/p>\n
The celebrity firmly believes that kids sometimes need to experience this type of discipline to know how to behave properly.
\nIn her interview with ET Canada, she talks about seeing kids who were spoiled, and according to her; you know they haven\u2019t been disciplined.<\/p>\n
\u201cYou know what, where I grew up, it works, and where I grew up, people are kind and they open doors, and they say thank you and they say please, and they\u2019re respectful,\u201d Kelly shared her interview with ET Canada.<\/p>\n
Though, Kelly also clarified that she just doesn\u2019t spank the kids right away.<\/p>\n
She gives them warnings before the spanking. She also has a lot of patience when dealing with her kids.<\/p>\n
\u201cI warn her! I\u2019m like \u2018Hi, I\u2019m going to spank you on your bottom if you don\u2019t stop right now like, this is ridiculous.\u201d<\/p>\n
It was never her goal to hurt, manipulate or control her children, like other people often think.<\/p>\n
For Kelly, it\u2019s a form of discipline that she grew up on and she knows that it works, so she\u2019s imposing it too.<\/p>\n
Though, as a public personality, she also shared that she\u2019s aware of this generation and how improper it would be if she would spank her kids in public.<\/p>\n
\u201c\u2026 that\u2019s a tricky thing when you\u2019re out in public, \u2019cause then people are like, you know, they think that\u2019s wrong or something, but I find nothing wrong with a spanking,\u201d Kelly told Audacy.<\/p>\n
We all have our own ways of disciplining our kids, and we know what methods work for them or not.<\/p>\n
After all, we only have one wish for our kids \u2013 to grow up kind, respectful, and full of compassion.<\/p>\n
