Oh, the glory days of kindergarten. What some of us adults would give to go back in time and make macaroni necklaces, use glue sticks, and learn the fundamentals. Doesn\u2019t it sound amazing?<\/p>\n
It\u2019s also the first year that many of us started our days by saying the \u201cPledge of Allegiance\u201d in front of the school flag. We were about twenty young voices trying to recite the lyrics, all with our right hands on our hearts. While the artwork is cute, one boy\u2019s rendition may be even cuter.
\nLacey Nicole Holmes, a Texas mother, shared a video on Facebook that moved many people to tears. It\u2019s a video of her two-and-a-half-year-old son repeating the Pledge of Allegiance in their living room.
\nToddlers usually sing nursery rhymes and songs from their favorite shows (my kids sang so many Barney songs that I still can\u2019t get them out of my head).<\/p>\n
It\u2019s not every day that you see a small child repeating the words to a patriotic song like our pledge. This little guy has it all figured out as well.<\/p>\n
In Holmes\u2019 video, her young son stands in their living room wearing a monster truck t-shirt. He\u2019s placed his right hand over his heart, as we were taught in school, and he\u2019s ready to demonstrate what he\u2019s learned to everyone.<\/p>\n
By saying, \u201cGo,\u201d the child instructs his mother to begin recording.<\/p>\n
While there is no visible American flag in the video, the toddler\u2019s eyes flick upward, as if he is looking at one in the background. He then starts reciting patriotic phrases.<\/p>\n
You can tell he\u2019s a child who knows the Pledge of Allegiance by heart right away. However, as one would expect from a two-year-old, his pronunciation of the words is far too precious.<\/p>\n
Francis Bellamy wrote the \u201cPledge of Allegiance\u201d in 1892, according to the website US History, but it was not the same as we know it today. It was originally written as follows:<\/p>\n

The Pledge of Allegiance evolved over time, with the addition of \u201cthe flag of the United States of America\u201d in 1923 and \u201cunder God\u201d in 1954.<\/p>\n
