While most people go on talk shows to promote products, movies, books, and the like, sometimes the conversation turns to other topics as well. For example, it\u2019s not uncommon for celebrities to mention their family or a recent vacation or experience.<\/p>\n
One thing that is not very common on talk shows is for celebrities to feel safe enough to be very open and honest about struggles they are having, but recently, there was a major exception on actress Drew Barrymore\u2018s talk show, The Drew Barrymore Show.
\nBarrymore was a guest on CBS This Morning, and she discussed an interview she recently had on her talk show.
\nShe explained that she\u2019s a fan of Machine Gun Kelly and had been trying to get him to do an interview, but he doesn\u2019t do a lot of interviews. She ended up being able to get him to come on her show to promote his new unisex nail polish line.
\nThat\u2019s all it was supposed to be \u2013 promoting nail polish. The interview took a very surprising turn.
\nKelly admitted to Barrymore that he doesn\u2019t always feel happy but feels pressure to smile and pretend to be happy for his fans.
\nWhile he gave Barrymore a manicure, he explained, \u201cI kind of am sick of smiling on days when I don\u2019t feel like smiling, and I feel like this odd pressure because I don\u2019t want my fans to think that I\u2019m taking something for granted.\u201d He added, \u201cA lot of what I do is for other people, and I haven\u2019t given myself the time to just accept that it\u2019s ok to not be ok.\u201d Instead of ignoring what Kelly said and turning to a more cheerful topic, Barrymore decided to make an admission of her own. She explained that after a \u201cpainful divorce\u201d she wasn\u2019t doing well, so she went to Utah to \u201ctalk to some people about how to pull myself out of a hole. And I had these two kids that I had to fight for and I needed help.\u201d After talking about her interview with Kelly on CBS This Morning, Barrymore decided to make another admission. On the show, she said, \u201cI\u2019m going to say something for the first time in a long time. I have not had a drink of alcohol in two and a half years.\u201d She went on to explain, \u201cIt was something that I realized just did not serve me in my life.\u201d She added, \u201cWhen you are stuck in a pattern or if you are going through things and you not only admit them out loud, but you force yourself to say, \u2018I\u2019m willing to make big changes\u2019\u2014I think we all think we\u2019re very weak when we don\u2019t make those changes.\u201d She continued, \u201cWhen you break that cycle, the empowerment that comes out of it.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
